Lake Vermilion and the Boundary Waters offer a unique blend of pristine nature, outdoor adventure, and a serene escape from the demands of modern life. It's a place where the beauty of the wilderness and the warmth of community come together to create a truly memorable "up north" summer living experience.

The term "up north" in this context reflects the cultural and geographic identity of the region. It's a place where the pace of life slows down, and the focus shifts to enjoying the simple pleasures of nature. Summer in this part of the country is marked by long days, cool nights, and a vibrant green landscape.

Up north living embodies a laid-back lifestyle centered around outdoor activities. Whether it's fishing on Lake Vermilion, paddling through the BWCAW, hiking scenic trails, or simply sitting around a campfire under a starry sky, the experience is about connecting with the natural world and finding a sense of peace and rejuvenation.

The Boundary Water Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) is a vast wilderness area adjacent to Lake Vermilion, encompassing over a million acres of pristine forests, lakes, and rivers. What makes this area unique is its emphasis on wilderness preservation and the absence of motorized vehicles. Travel through the BWCAW is primarily by canoe, with portages (carrying your canoe and gear between lakes) adding an adventurous element to the experience.

The BWCAW is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts who seek solitude and a close connection with nature. Paddling through calm lakes, navigating winding rivers, and camping in secluded sites offer a sense of tranquility and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The area is teeming with wildlife, and it's not uncommon to spot moose, eagles, and other creatures in their natural habitat.
